Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Lifestyle Medicine (LM) are converging to reshape the landscape of nursing, offering both opportunities and challenges for practice, education, and patient care. AI-driven tools, from predictive analytics to virtual health assistants, are enabling nurses to deliver more personalized, data-informed interventions while freeing time for relational aspects of care. Meanwhile, Lifestyle Medicine—focusing on evidence-based interventions in nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, substance use, and social connection—aligns with nursing’s holistic ethos, placing prevention and behavior change at the heart of practice.
This paper explores how the integration of AI and LM is redefining nursing roles. Emerging evidence suggests that AI can enhance assessment and monitoring of lifestyle factors, enabling early detection and tailored coaching, while nurses act as facilitators of sustainable behavior change. However, ethical considerations, digital literacy, and equity must be addressed to ensure technology enhances, rather than fragments, care. By combining the precision of AI with the human-centered approach of LM, nurses are uniquely positioned to lead innovations that bridge technology with compassionate, preventive health care. The presentation will highlight models of practice, implications for professional development, and pathways for embedding AI and LM into nursing education and systems of care.
